A school board vacancy has been created due to the resignation of Chase Barker (Melrose Township).  The school board is seeking applications to fill this position on the school board. The newly appointed school board member will serve until the next school board election, April 2023.

Candidates must meet the following guidelines:

• Be a resident of Melrose Township
• Be a United States citizen
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
• Be a registered voter
• Not hold another incompatible public office

        Citizens interested in being considered for appointment to the Payson CUSD #1 School Board should email letters of application responding to the questions below by noon on August 12, 2022 to:   boardvacancy@cusd1.org. The Payson CUSD#1 Board of Education will review letters of interest and appoint an individual.

Include with your qualifications the answers to the following questions:

1)   Why do you want to be a board member?

2)   What specific skills would you bring to the table?

3)   Please give specific examples of your ability to work as a team.

4)   What do you see as the role of a Board member?

5)   What areas would you like to see the Board strengthen?
