CALL TO ORDER
Denise Albsmeyer called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.

ROLL CALL
Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present:  Denise Albsmeyer, Russ Board, Cory Hagerbaumer and Trista Neisen. Keith Barry, Danelle Donley and Lisa Schwartz were absent.

Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Phelan, Greg Buescher and Nancy Cromie.

Don Miller submitted an update on HS baseball, softball and track.

CONSENT AGENDA

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Donna Veile talked about summer work, insurance renewal and the electric agreement.  The July board meeting will be on the third Wednesday instead of the third Thursday.  There was discussion on the tentative amended FY24 budget.

TENTATIVE AMENDED FY24 BUDGET
Schwartz made a motion to approve the tentative amended FY24 budget and set a hearing for June 20.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

SOPPA OFFICER
Donley made a motion to approve Barb Speckhart as the SOPPA officer.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

FIRST READING OF IASB POLICIES
Neisen made a motion to approve the first reading of IASB policies as listed on the agenda.  Albsmeyer seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

FIRST READING OF STUDENT HANDBOOK CHANGES FOR 2024-25
Donley made a motion to approve the first reading of student handbook changes for 2024-25.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

SENIOR MEMORIAL-DONATION TO FIX STAGE CURTAIN
Neisen made a motion to approve the senior memorial request.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

GRADE SCHOOL MILK BID
Donley made a motion to approve the firm milk bid from Prairie Farms.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

GRADE SCHOOL HOT LUNCH PRODUCTS BID
Schwartz made a motion to approve the hot lunch products bid from Kohl Wholesale.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Julie Phelan shared how staff were celebrated during the past week.  There are several upcoming fieldtrips and Celebration Day at Scotties Fun Spot.  The Spelling Bee will be returning this year.  Kindergarten just celebrated with a special program and sixth grade promotion will be May 22.  The graduating seniors will be coming on Friday to do their annual “final walk” through the elementary.  A slideshow was presented on first grade curriculum.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Greg Buescher shared how staff were celebrated over the past few weeks.  MAP testing has been completed.  The band/chorus concert was held on April 26 and showcased the talents of many of the students.  The Spanish class hosted their annual “Cinco de Mayo” celebration for the elementary on May 3.  The awards celebration was held on May 14 and many students were recognized.  The winner of the class competition is the junior class.  A slideshow was presented on various student activities.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION
Albsmeyer made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION

ADDITIONAL ITEMS
There was discussion on the Chicago board conference in November, HS gym bleachers and the 24-25 school calendar.
