CALL TO ORDER
Lisa Schwartz called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL
Roll was taken with the following members present:  Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Russ Board, Danelle Donley, Cory Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz were present.  

Also present were Donna Veile, Julie Phelan, Greg Buescher, Lauren Bentzinger, Barb Speckhart and Nancy Cromie.

PUBLIC
New staff members introduced themselves to the board.  Joni Hazelrigg addressed the board regarding her daughter’s education.

CONSENT AGENDA
Donley made a motion to approve the consent agenda.   Albsmeyer seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

TECH REPORT
Barb Speckhart gave a report on the technology issues that were addressed over the summer break.  Chromebooks are being distributed.

AD REPORT
Lauren Bentzinger shared an update on the sports currently in season.  There was a coaches meeting for the fall sports and there will be another in the spring for the spring sports.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Donna Veile talked about the current student enrollment and then gave an update on the elementary bathroom/hallway project.  She also discussed some HVAC issues and proposed plans for a kitchen at the JH/HS.

TENTATIVE 2024-25 BUDGET
Neisen made a motion to approve the tentative 2024-25 budget and set a hearing for September 19, 2024.  Schwartz seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

FIRST READING OF IASB POLICIES
Neisen made a motion to approve the first reading of IASB policies as listed on the agenda.  Albsmeyer seconded the motion.   AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Julie Phelan shared enrollment numbers and welcomed the new staff.  Several staff took advantage of ROE trainings over the summer.  The Muddy River Riders donated 20 backpacks full of school supplies.  PTO and the PBIS team celebrated the first day of school by providing snow cones from Tri State Sno Biz.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Greg Buescher shared enrollment numbers and welcomed the new staff.  The custodial staff was commended for their work in getting the building ready.  Teachers will have a PLC training tomorrow.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION
Donley made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, collective bargaining agreements, superintendent contract and other items appropriate for closed session.  Barry seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None
Moved into closed session at 7:46 p.m.

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION
Albsmeyer made a motion to return to open session.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None
Returned to open session at 9:10 p.m.

PERSONNEL ADDENDUM & SUPERINTENDENTS CONTRACT
Barry made a motion to approve the personnel addendum and the superintendent’s contract.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

ADDITIONAL ITEMS
There was discussion on homeschool student participation in athletics and the JH/HS lunch program.

Hagerbaumer left at 9:30 p.m.

Barry made a motion to adjourn.  Neisen seconded the motion.   AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None
