CALL TO ORDER
Lisa Schwartz called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL
Roll was taken with the following members present:  Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Russ Board, Danelle Donley, Cory Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz. 

Also present were Donna Veile and Patrick Allen.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION
Barry made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of self-evaluation.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

August 17, 2023-Regular Meeting

CALL TO ORDER
Donna Veile called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m.

ROLL CALL
Nancy Cromie, district secretary, called roll with the following members present:  Denise Albsmeyer, Keith Barry, Russ Board, Danelle Donley, Cory Hagerbaumer, Trista Neisen and Lisa Schwartz. 

Also present were Donna Veile, Greg Buescher, Barb Speckhart, Don Miller and Nancy Cromie.

VISITORS
Diane Germann, Madison Rees, Matt Woodworth, Cathy Howell, Brian Muegge, Scott D, Loretta Baustian, Nick Holtschlag, Kaleb Purcell, Jessica Purcell, Alicia Ludwig, Gayanne Daugherty and Cathy Gooding

PUBLIC
New staff members introduced themselves to the board.  Members of the football coaching staff and booster club addressed the board regarding their concerns about program costs.

TECHNOLOGY REPORT
Barb Speckhart shared that eRate money was used to build out the fiber connection and it’s now 10G.  New copiers were installed in each building.

AD REPORT
Don Miller shared the status of current sports.

CONSENT AGENDA
Albsmeyer made a motion to approve the consent agenda.  Neisen seconded the motion.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Donna Veile shared enrollment information, weight room update and talked about repairs to the A/C at the elementary.  She also discussed the possible changes regarding the School Resource Officer.

TENTATIVE 2023-24 BUDGET
Schwartz made a motion to approve the tentative 2023-24 budget and set a hearing for September 21.  Barry seconded the motion.   AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

FFA STUDENT TRIP TO IRELAND
Barry made a motion to approve the request for a FFA student trip to Ireland.  Neisen seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Julie Phelan submitted a report on current enrollment numbers, new teacher orientation and staff trainings.  Muddy River Riders donated 20 backpacks full of school supplies.  PTO & PBIS provided snow cones from Tri State Sno Biz on the first day.

SECONDARY PRINCIPAL REPORT
Greg Buescher welcomed the new staff members and gave current enrollment numbers.  He recognized the maintenance team for the hard work getting the building ready.  He also shared about meetings with the PBIS and Leadership teams.  Staff will also be looking at ways to encourage more parental involvement.

MOVE TO CLOSED SESSION
Donley made a motion to move into closed session for the purpose of discussing the employment of personnel, student matters, and other items appropriate for closed session.  Albsmeyer seconded the motion.  AYE:  Albsmeyer, Barry, Board, Donley, Hagerbaumer, Neisen and Schwartz   NAY:  None

ADDITIONAL ITEMS
There was discussion on purchasing another vehicle to be used for extra-curricular activities.  It was also decided that fieldtrips would now include two educational and one fun fieldtrip per grade level.
